I am Melissa and I have had like many of us, a difficult life to some extent. I have made it to 40 so I must be doing something right, or maybe not. I describe myself as a woman above anything else. Then I can tell you some other titles that have been bestowed on me such as wife, mother, friend, lover, caregiver, and my ever favorite title, bitch.
Being that I have so many different titles, my life gets pretty busy. Everything that I want to do is always superseded by the desire my children have of my time. Even as I have only written a few lines I have already worked on homework questions, fights over the television, kids begging for the WiFi password and many other things. My house is quite full. Thankfully I have a double so my tribe all has somewhere to be.
My tribe, yes this tribe. They are really amazing. To begin with I have my family that has me, 4 children, husband and father in law. Then another couple and their 5 children and finally a couple just starting out in life. So if you counted that like I did that gives us 16 people currently here. The 9 bedrooms definitely come in handy, but it seems most of the children decide to take over the living room and the rest of us adults are left to hide in our areas of the house. My tribe is pretty special to me. They are those that I would trust with my life and make sure that we all are able to succeed.
Another nice thing about my tribe is that the majority of us adults all work together. So what it is I do when I am not behind a keyboard? Well we are stagehands. Which means that we work at convention centers and concert halls and stadiums and arenas and hotels and just about anywhere that needs this skilled labor to set up for. We travel regionally and all love this work. This leaves us all pretty busy for about 10 months out of the year. Thank goodness for cell phone apps, I may actually be able to keep working on this while we travel.
When all of us our not working we tend to try and find time for us to all have adult fun. This can be anything from just going to a bar and catching a drink to going to the local swingers club or a hotel party to have a good time. Yes I know we are terrible human beings but hey, we are only human. You will hear a lot about this side of my life throughout these blogs, probably more on that then what city I am in and where I might be working on any given day. Plus it is frowned upon to give that sort of information out so it will be less than maybe some of you would want to know.
Past play time, there are a few other things that I would like to tell you. I am married to an amazing man for the last 12 years and we have been together for almost 15 years. It has not been an easy road but we have made it work. We are both polyamorous and I can let you know that we are both picky about who we may or may not date, but I can tell you this much, drama is not allowed and has killed friendships. We just cannot deal with that in our lives, we are already so busy we do not need our attention diverted any more than it already is. Both my husband and I are bi sexual as well. We do not run around with our rainbows on, but we know how hard it can be for society to do anything but say we are confused because we like both boys and girls. Just get that it is what it is and move on.
I can also let you know that I am 420 friendly and believe the sooner this is more available throughout our whole country, it will be a much more beautiful world for everyone. I am passionate about being able to use marijuana not only for recreational use, because it does help to relax, but I know how much good it can and has done with those that have chronic diseases and physical problems and do not want to take a highly addictive pain medication. As things continue to change in this industry country wide, I am sure I will be letting you know how I feel about it.
